Bridging the Divide – Addressing Political Polarization in Psychological Practice

Join us for an engaging session led by Dr. J. Glen White, co-founder of the Arkansas Braver Angels Alliance and a long-time advocate for reducing political polarization. Drawing from his extensive experience with Braver Angels—a national organization working to heal the political divide—Dr. White will explore how tools inspired by psychotherapy are being used to bridge divides in today’s divided society.
Odd Months: Professional Peer Consultations
About the Session
In an age of increasing political division, the effects of polarization are spilling into our therapy rooms, often influencing clients’ mental health, relationships, and overall stress levels. In this Lunch and Learn session, Dr. J. Glen White—co-founder of the Braver Angels Arkansas Alliance and active member since 2017—leads a timely and thought-provoking discussion on how psychologists can draw from the Braver Angels model to navigate these complex dynamics in their practice.
Blending insights from psychotherapy, conflict resolution, and Braver Angels communication strategies, Dr. White will share research, real-world applications, and guide a reflective, peer-based dialogue on how clinicians are encountering political polarization in their work—and how we can support one another through it.
