Explore ArPA’s Standing Committees

A. Communication Committee: This Committee shall be responsible for the coordination of the content and advertising of the corporation’s publications and website. 

B. Constitution/Bylaws Committee: This committee shall be chaired by the Past President, and shall review, study, and propose changes to ArPA’s bylaws as appropriate and in accordance with the rules governing changes to the bylaws.

C. Diversity Committee: This committee shall be responsible for fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for members of diverse backgrounds, increasing diverse membership and leadership roles, providing multi-cultural education opportunities, and promoting psychologist involvement in meeting the needs of our diverse community. The chair of this committee will serve as the Diversity Representative with voting privileges on the Board of Directors.

D. Ethics and Professional Practices Committee: This committee shall be responsible for conducting business in accordance with the current policy statement of the American Psychological Association (APA) using APA standards.

E. Fellow Status Review Committee: This committee shall be responsible for implementing Fellow application and review procedures and for making
recommendations to the Board for approval of applicants to Fellow status membership.

F. Government Relations Committee: The goals of the committee are to: monitor legislative activity that relates to mental health issues or has the potential to impact the Arkansas Psychological Association(ArPA), its members, or the general public; to provide guidance regarding legislative action to the ArPA Board of Directors; and to encourage ArPA members to advocate within all branches of government for positive and appropriate action that is consistent with the best interests of the health, well-being and growth of psychology, members of ArPA, those our psychological community serves, and the citizens of Arkansas through grassroots efforts.

G. Membership Committee: This committee shall receive requests for
membership and for promotion and shall examine credentials of applicants, granting membership to those deemed appropriate.

H. Professional Development Committee: This committee shall be responsible to the members of ArPA in coordinating conference programming and continuing education awards.

I. Public Education Committee: This committee shall coordinate the public education and information activities of ArPA.
